Westcon adds 8x8 to its unified communications line-up

Westcon has sealed a distribution agreement with 8x8 for its integrated cloud communications and contact centre solutions. The partnership will initially be effective in the UK and Ireland, said Westcon.

The deal will allow 8x8 to further expand its global footprint, while also providing Westcon partners with UCaaS and CCaaS public cloud solutions via a wholesale model.

The 8x8 integrated cloud contact centre, voice communications, team chat and video meetings offering helps organisations with a distributed workforce to connect, collaborate and engage from anywhere with colleagues and customers.

With Microsoft already an existing partner of Westcon and 8x8's technology certified for Microsoft Teams, there was an additional incentive for the two companies to come together. 8x8’s platform allows organisations and their employees and contact centre agents to interact with colleagues and customers from any Teams endpoint.

John DeLozier (pictured), senior vice president and global channel chief at 8x8, said: “Westcon has an exemplary global track record delivering maximum value and success for its partners. We see great value partnering with the leading technology distributor as it is strategic to our channel-first efforts in the UK and Europe.”

Rene Klein, senior vice president for Westcon Europe, added: “8x8’s excellent product will no doubt drive impressive results with our partner community. Our track record in collaboration and communications technologies, combined with our recent growth in cloud and managed services providers, puts us in a unique position to support 8x8’s business goals.”

Last autumn, Westcon announced a new partner recruitment drive in Ireland for the resale of Avaya Cloud Office by RingCentral solutions. Westcon is a master agent for the unified communications as-a-service (UCaaS) platform across Europe, with Avaya joining forces on the technology with RingCentral in 2019.

Avaya Cloud Office by RingCentral was launched in the UK channel in June 2020. The technology enables voice calls, team messaging, meetings, conferencing and file sharing.
