Version 1 latest services provider to create 1,000 AI jobs in the UK

Digital transformation services firm Version 1 is investing £40m across the UK to create 1,000 jobs.

Version 1 said most of the new roles to be added will be AI-related and located for proximity to its UK clients, situated across its London, Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast locations.

These new jobs, follow the Kyndryl announcement we covered at the end of last month. Infrastructure services firm Kyndryl is to open a new technology hub in Liverpool that will support the digital transformation of UK and global customers. Kyndryl says it will create up to 1,000 software engineering and AI-related jobs over the next three years through the hub.

Led by Kyndryl Consult, the new hub will include a Kyndryl Vital Studio. The studio will offer a designer-led, open and collaborative co-creation experience that will allow customers to tackle complex and real-world business challenges. Kyndryl Consult’s advisory services will help businesses adopt and implement AI, software and platform engineering solutions, and other emerging technologies.

In its move, Version 1 said it was supporting public sector organisations in the UK and Ireland on large-scale transformation and AI projects, that have, and will improve services for citizens and civil servants.

"By further embedding rich technology expertise locally, leveraging partnerships, and providing the upskilling and training required, Version 1 commits to support that will keep both economies at the forefront of innovation," the company said.

Brad Mallard, chief technology officer at Version 1, said: “We have a global presence but it’s our mission to deliver value for our customers from the best locations most suited to their needs, and this means investing locally and globally in the right skills and talent.

"With UK government initiatives such as the AI Opportunities Action Plan and the new AI playbook, which are designed to boost economic value and drive productivity and efficiency across government, we can align on shared objectives that ultimately deliver these benefits, but keep the knowledge and skill sets in the right place too for sustainable growth.”
