Stellium Data Centres will open NCL-IX, the UK's newest carrier-neutral internet exchange point, in Newcastle this Friday. NCL-IX will connect the north-east city to UK and subsea international networks to better support MSPs and cloud service providers,it says.
Founding connectivity users of NCL-IX include Zayo Networks, Aspire TS and IX Reach. As well as meeting enterprise connectivity needs, they will provide fixed and mobile operators with IP transit and Ethernet transport services.
The new data centre is the UK landing point for the new North Sea Connect (NSC) cable. NSC connects Newcastle to Denmark, providing diversity between the UK and Northern Europe and avoiding London. There is a branching unit to facilitate future connections to Germany or the Netherlands.
Stellium offers clients a range of custom offerings, including cloud-based delivery of applications and services, co-location services and powered-shell data centres.
