SAP has shut down its cloud operations in Russia after previously suspending all sales activity there, and then in Belarus, due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
“Russia’s ongoing unjustified struggle is a heart-breaking show of brutality and a violation of the elemental precept of freedom that we share with Ukraine,” SAP said in a statement.
It added that customers who have bought and deployed SAP products on-premise and continue to run its software within their own internal IT departments will still be able to use these products regardless of SAP’s decision.
SAP is just the latest in the growing number of tech companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, Apple and other tech giants that have halted product sales in Russia.
