Quantum expands software partnership with Atempo

Data storage vendor Quantum Corporation has expanded its partnership with Atempo, a European software vendor known for its Tina and Miria data protection and unstructured data management software.

As part of the expanded partnership, the companies are introducing validated solution bundles that combine Atempo Tina software, a Quantum media server, and Quantum secondary storage solutions.

The new worldwide reseller agreement will see Quantum resell Tina software with an all-inclusive, capacity-based subscription licensing model, that is only available through Quantum.

“Resellers and end users are looking for easy-to-use, easy-to-purchase solutions that provide comprehensive data protection,” said James Mundle (pictured), global channel chief at Quantum. “Providing complete solutions based on Atempo Tina software with Quantum’s secondary storage portfolio simplifies procurement, deployment and ongoing support.”

Ferhat Kaddour, vice president for sales and alliances at Atempo, added: “It was natural to fully converge our offerings into validated solution bundles, arming resellers and end users with a complete data protection solution, including both backup software and storage.

“Our common goal is to improve the security posture of end users with efficient, easy-to-use solutions that are the last defence against threats such as ransomware.”

It is in the software development and storage services side of the business Quantum is focusing on now for higher profit margins, but its appliances are also going through some upgrades which allow this software to deliver optimum results.

The vendor’s year-end results reported this June showed that total sales were $373m, which were up 7% on the previous year, but still lower than the $403m generated in 2019, when the firm made $43m in net income.

For the last reported 12 months, Quantum made a $32.3m GAAP net loss, but that was lower than the previous year’s $35.5m loss.

In other Quantum news, the company has appointed Don Jaworski and Hugues Meyrath to its board of directors, effective from 9 November, 2022.

"As a fundamental part of executing on our strategic vision and generating value for shareholders, we are committed to maintaining an engaged board comprised of individuals with a deep understanding of the market trends and expanding opportunities for Quantum's solutions," said Jamie Lerner, chairman and CEO of Quantum.

"Don and Hugues are both ideal candidates for the board, each possessing significant expertise in software product development for data management solutions at large multinational firms. We look forward to their future contributions as well as valuable insights as Quantum continues to expand its portfolio of end-to-end software solutions for managing customers' unstructured data."
