Akamai Technologies is expanding its cloud services with new data centre facilities in Washington DC, Chicago, and Paris, with additional sites in Seattle and Chennai to follow this quarter.
This marks the start of Akamai's plan to integrate more services into its global Edge network.
Adam Karon, COO and GM, Cloud Technology Group, Akamai Technologies, said: "Next-generation applications demand cloud infrastructure that provides dramatically lower latency and better egress than what's currently possible from today's legacy cloud providers. What we're building is designed for that new world.”
The company also revealed new instances, boosted its storage to one petabyte and one billion objects per bucket, and plans to roll out a load-balancing service later this year.
