Awareness of software resilience is rising in crisis

First responses to an IT Europa survey of software providers show that while the current crisis has increased customers concerns over longer term risks to their software environment, this is not the first thing they think of. But the realisation that events can lead to supplier failure is starting to have an impact on their thinking. Resellers, ISVs and other channels involved in software supply can use this to differentiate their offerings and show that they have taken steps to protect customers.

The survey by IT Europa on behalf of software resilience specialist NCC Group, covers channel view on software assurance, resilience and escrow provision. Early responses confirm that customers are looking for more reassurance on longer-term provision, and that in turn, ISVs in particular are engaging with customers on the discussion. But it is clear that some software providers  and channels are not aware that such solutions exist, and that the issue only comes up once negotiations are in process, and formal sales departments are involved.

Software providers are not yet confident in their abilities to work in this area, but see its relevancy in building trust levels with customers, says the survey. They admit to needing help in understanding how to analyse risk in their application area and vertical market.

On Thursday 19th November at 12.00 noon, NCC Group CTO Ollie Whitehouse will cover the issues in a webinar with IT Europa Editor John Garratt, covering the issues, responses and support available to help ISVs and resellers engage confidently in software resilience provision. More here
