Klaus Weinmann, founder and long-standing CEO of pan-European IT services firm Cancom, has resigned. Thomas Volk, president and general manager, will be taking his place at the end of next month.
Weinmann is now expected to take a place on the company's board. Weinmann will instead concentrate on his CEO role at German venture capital firm Primepulse, which is Cancom's largest shareholder.
Weinmann said: "I need not emphasise that Cancom is very important to me. But the growth of the Primepulse group and the increasing tasks that this entails for me will no longer allow for a dual function. Thomas Volk is an excellent successor to whom I can entrust my Cancom with peace of mind.”
He added that he would like to continue supporting the transformation of Cancom as a cloud and managed service business. “I will therefore ask the shareholders to allow me to join the supervisory board," he said.
“Customers, partners, investors and employees can expect Cancom's success to continue," said Lothar Koniarski, chairman of the board.
Thomas Volk said: “As the new CEO I will continue Cancom's course as a system house and as a priority expand the development of the cloud solutions business internationally. This ensures the long-term profitability of the company and customers are optimally supported in the course of their own digitisation."
Volk led Cancom's two recent acquisitions in the UK. €1bn-turnover Cancom acquired IT services firm OCSL and UCC and managed service provider Ocean Intelligent Communications, now renamed as CANCOM Collaboration and Communication.
