Tech Data UK is boosting its professional services and solutions practices with the aim of helping resellers to skill-up in emerging technologies and take them to market effectively.

Following the integration of its technical resources, resellers can now call on the services of an expanded team of technical experts to assist in identifying and proposing solutions and delivering professional services to end-user customers, it says. This includes a dedicated pre-sales team aligned to solutions integrators and MSPs, in addition to professional services and service desk teams who can provide a range of services to and on behalf of partners, as well as24/7 support cover on key vendor technologies.

Further strategic investment in skills and personnel will be made as Tech Data grows its Advanced Solutions portfolio over the coming year, says Andy Brown (below), Technical Services Director for Tech Data Advanced Solutions UK. As well as hyper-convergence, network security and cloud, the company will be looking to develop capability around data and analytics, IoT and advanced cyber security.

“We are seeing increased demand for deployment and integration of hyper-converged solutions, in network security and cloud platforms,” he says.

In addition, Tech Data is making a schedule of technical training available to partners through the Tech Data Academy. Classroom-based, instructor-led tuition is delivered by consultants, and through online and virtual resources. This enables partners to keep their knowledge and skills up-to date, allowing them to achieve or retain certifications for key vendors, including Cisco, Citrix, FlexPod, IBM, Microsoft, NetApp and VMware amongst others, and continually develop their capability to generate additional high-margin business.

  • The distributor has also just launched Tech-as-a-Service programme in the UK. This provides channel partners with life-cycle management capability. The UK is the first country in Europe to bring the programme to market with other regions scheduled to implement the offer throughout the early part of 2018.
