Leading distributor consolidates into two main divisions to better target prospects

Distributor Exertis has formed two main divisions, covering business and consumer, to more tightly target the markets it serves. At the same time, staff promotions have been announced to support the changes.

“The dedicated divisions, with integrated sales and commercial teams, will result in a streamlined approach, simplifying operations, ensuring a more seamless experience for customers, and delivering faster support and enhanced collaboration,” maintained Exertis.

The business division will focus on AV, components, IT solutions, mobile, and print. The consumer division will major on the retail product and solutions market.

“These changes are designed to make us more agile and responsive to the market, while fully leveraging our specialist knowledge and optimised services,” said Tim Griffin, CEO of Exertis IT. “The integration of sales and commercial functions ensures a simpler, more efficient customer experience.”

Jonathan Sutherland has been named as managing director of Exertis consumer, and Jamie Brothwell is now managing director of Exertis business. In addition, Paul Jacobs becomes trading director, and Lisa Bird takes on the role of sales operations and 3PL director. All will report to Phillip Turner, chief commercial officer at Exertis.

Turner said: “Our structural changes enable our vendors to maximise dedicated breadth play through our general sales team, as well as the specialist expertise which we provide, maximising their brand, improving co-ordination and increasing targeted go-to-market strategies.”

In August, Exertis Enterprise, as it was then known, signed a strategic distribution relationship with data management vendor Synology.

That partnership promised to build on Synology's existing relationship with Hypertec, a sister company of Exertis Enterprise, which focuses on catering to resellers and integrators working with small- to medium-sized businesses.

In June, Seagate Technology said it was expanding its Lyve Cloud S3-compatible object storage as-a-service in the UK, with a second data centre in London.

As part of that expansion, Seagate said it was “broadening” its UK Lyve Cloud channel through a new distribution agreement with Climb Channel Solutions, in addition to a long-term collaboration with Exertis, offering a full range of advanced cloud and on-prem storage solutions.
