Cloud computing firm OVHcloud has acquired BuyDRM, a US-based company specialising in security technologies for digital rights management (DRM) applications.
As part of the deal, the entire BuyDRM team and its founders will join the OVHcloud Group to build a single roadmap dedicated to security.
“By acquiring BuyDRM, we have not only gathered additional resources to accelerate our security roadmap, but above all, to develop together advanced and innovative solutions to support our customers in their adoption of cloud technologies." said OVHcloud CTO Thierry Souche.
According to OVHcloud, this expertise will be integrated into all of its solutions, while its potential of development at scale will enhance the service portfolio of the company.
“We are delighted to join OVHcloud and to deploy our solutions on an industrial scale in the cloud,” said Christopher Levy, CEO of BuyDRM.
“We are convinced that our skills will complement and enhance each other to further secure the data of cloud users, regardless of their technological challenges,” he added.
The skills of these new teams will be a major asset in OVHcloud’s security roadmap, both for “securing access to services and designing new security mechanisms integrated into its cloud solutions,” OVHcloud said.
OVHcloud has been on an acquisition spree throughout the pandemic, having purchased both OpenIO and Exten Technologies in the last year.
Earlier this year, it also teamed up with IT consulting group Atos to bring to market a European multi-cloud solution.
OVHcloud says its ambition is to accelerate its development of integrated platform-as-a-service (PaaS) solutions, based on an open infrastructure while maintaining compliance with GDPR.
