Avaya CEO poised to retire, Dennis elevated to top role

Avaya's President and CEO, Alan Masarek, is set to retire at the end of the year, with Patrick Dennis, the current Chair of the Board of Directors, stepping into the CEO role on September 1st.

Dennis, who brings 30 years of experience, has a proven track record in enterprise software, SaaS, cybersecurity, and communications.

He is currently the CEO of Venafi, a cybersecurity company that is being acquired by CyberArk. Before his tenure at Venafi, Dennis served as the CEO of ExtraHop and Aspect Communications.

Dennis stated: “Avaya is now operating from a position of financial strength and our strategy is resonating with customers around the world.”

As Chair of the Avaya Board since the company’s recapitalisation in May 2023, Dennis has collaborated closely with Masarek and the leadership team to develop the company's strategy and growth plans.

Masarek said: “Two years ago, I came out of retirement to help lead Avaya. While there is more to do, Avaya’s new position of strength combined with Patrick’s ability to lead the company creates an opportunity for me to return to retirement.”

Over the past two years, Avaya has undertaken a strategic reset of its customer value proposition and completed its recapitalisation.
